West Coast Sri Lanka (November and April.)
Bentota is the perfect spot for windsurfing in Sri Lanka located in the south-west coast of Sri Lanka. The calm waters of the Bentota River is the best place for a novice windsurfer. The beach and Indian Sea is right next to the river where experienced wind surfers can ride the waves. There are place to hire good boards and sails.
The Negombo Lagoon is a good spot to windsurf. Kalpitiya is a great location for Kite Surfing.
Other areas Dambulla (inland) and Kalutara beach.
All locations are ideal for sun bathing and walking on golden sand. When bathing tourists are requested to wear one piece swim suits or shorts with top.
East Coast (July and August)
Set in the north of Trincomalee, offers excellent windsurfing opportunities in Sri Lankan east coast due to its strong winds. With the sun and sand, it would be a memorable experience. Arugambay offers the ideal spot for kite surfing, surfing and boogie boarding.
The east coast is developing, following the end of the civil war. Small and medium hotels abound, star class hotels are being built or renovated. Tourists are advised not to expect much luxury at the moment, but have the chance to enjoy idyllic settings. These beaches can be crowded as local tourists are pouring into explore the east coast.
